* UNLVPT requires THREE letters of reference. * All electronic letters of reference must be "verified" by the posted application deadline. * Applicants MUST use the electronic PTCAS letter of reference reporting mechanism. * All letters must be received by the posted deadline application deadline.
Applicants MUST complete observation hours. Physical therapy settings may include but are not limited to: inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, inpatient skilled nursing facilities, inpatient long term care facilities, inpatient acute care hospitals, inpatient or outpatient pediatric clinics, inpatient or outpatient wound care clinics, outpatient orthopedics, outpatient neurological/vestibular clinics, women's health clinics, hand therapy clinics, etc. Multiple different settings are preferred but not required. For example an applicant might complete observation hours in two settings. Setting #1: outpatient orthopedics = 70 hours, setting #2: inpatient skilled nursing facility = 30 hours. Only observation hours documented as "completed" will count towards the required 50 hours. UNLV does not use a standard observation hours form. UNLVPT prefers that applicants submit and have ALL of their hours verified electronically via PTCAS. For additional details on observation hours, please see the FAQ resource found at: https://www.unlv.edu/pt/admissions Refer to the section named: "How will I document and submit my observation hours for verification?" UNLVPT does NOT assist potential applicants to identify or arrange observation hours. Highly qualified applicants typically have more than the minimum required hours and will generally have experiences in a variety of PT settings. Applicants offered acceptance to the Class of 2024 averaged 400 hours.
* Temporary COVID-19 update: We will accept pass/satisfactory credits for prerequisite courses if the institution elected to use the Pass/Fail or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading option due to COVID-19 for the following semesters without prejudice: Spring 2020, Summer, 2020, and fall 2020. However, to give us the best sense of your comparative academic preparation, we encourage as much coursework as possible to be taken on a graded basis. * UNLVPT considers the following two GPA calculations: * #1: The PTCAS calculated "Overall GPA" * This GPA includes ALL college level courses (including re-takes) taken from ALL regionally accredited institutions the applicant has attended including: junior colleges, 4 year undergraduate institutions, post-bac coursework, and graduate level coursework and that has been reported to PTCAS via official transcripts. Applicants are required to submit official transcripts from ALL attended institutions to PTCAS. * #2: The program calculated "Prerequisite GPA" * This GPA is calculated based on the 11 courses which best fit the UNLVPT prerequisite course requirements. Applicants MUST "tag" the courses they feel best match each of the 11 UNLVPT prerequisite requirements and that they would like to have considered towards the prerequisite course GPA. In the event of a re-take the program will use the higher grade earned for the program calculated prerequisite GPA.
