* Three letters of recommendation are required. It is preferred that two recommendations be from licensed physical therapists whom you have observed providing direct patient care or direct research interventions and one be from an upper-level professor of a course that you took.

* Given the Coronavirus pandemic, we understand there may be difficulties obtaining the preferred references and, therefore, we will honor other types of recommendations for the 2021-2022 application cycle (e.g. - advisors, mentors, employers, coaches, other medical providers, etc.). Applicants are highly encouraged to obtain at least one recommendation from a physical therapist, if possible.

* Recommendations from family members or close family friends will not be accepted.
PT Observation Hours
Information about your PT requirements
* PT clinical experience hours must occur under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist (clinical and/or research) with whom you directly engaged. The licensed physical therapist must verify hours via an electronic verification form on the PTCAS application. A minimum of 50 volunteer (observation) hours are required by the time of enrollment. It is preferred that applicants have at least 25 hours completed at the time of application.

* Given the Coronavirus pandemic, UDPT will waive volunteer (observation) hours for the 2021-2022 application cycle should applicants be unable to obtain the above minimums. In such cases, applicants are highly encouraged to thoroughly investigate the physical therapy profession so as to affirm their commitment to this career option.
