PTCAS application data will be transferred to the University of Delaware's (UD) graduate application system. Once PTCAS application data is imported into the graduate application system, applicants will receive an email from the UD Graduate College with instructions to create an account, answer additional questions and pay a supplemental $35 application fee. Please DO NOT create a supplemental account or application prior to receiving an email with instructions from the Graduate College. Please complete the supplemental application within one week of receiving the notice from the UD Graduate College. Candidates without a supplemental application on file will be considered incomplete and may not be reviewed for an admissions interview. PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must request official GRE scores to be sent directly to the University of Delaware (University Code 5811) by the application deadline.
It is preferred that candidates have official GRE scores by the application deadline: * 8/16/2021 (Round 1 Deadline) * 9/13/2021 (Round 2 Deadline) * 10/11/2021 (Round 3 Deadline) * 12/13/2021 (Round 4 Deadline). * Applicants must request official GRE scores to be sent directly to the University of Delaware (School Code 5811). * Program will utilize percentile rankings when analyzing verbal and quantitative sections. The highest percentile ranking for each section will be utilized, even if obtained on different testing dates. Test from home scores are accepted.
* Three letters of recommendation are required. It is preferred that two recommendations be from licensed physical therapists whom you have observed providing direct patient care or direct research interventions and one be from an upper-level professor of a course that you took. * Given the Coronavirus pandemic, we understand there may be difficulties obtaining the preferred references and, therefore, we will honor other types of recommendations for the 2021-2022 application cycle (e.g. - advisors, mentors, employers, coaches, other medical providers, etc.). Applicants are highly encouraged to obtain at least one recommendation from a physical therapist, if possible. * Recommendations from family members or close family friends will not be accepted.
* PT clinical experience hours must occur under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist (clinical and/or research) with whom you directly engaged. The licensed physical therapist must verify hours via an electronic verification form on the PTCAS application. A minimum of 50 volunteer (observation) hours are required by the time of enrollment. It is preferred that applicants have at least 25 hours completed at the time of application. * Given the Coronavirus pandemic, UDPT will waive volunteer (observation) hours for the 2021-2022 application cycle should applicants be unable to obtain the above minimums. In such cases, applicants are highly encouraged to thoroughly investigate the physical therapy profession so as to affirm their commitment to this career option.
Program uses the highest earned grade in a course when calculating science GPA (program-specific prerequisite GPA). The "program-specific prerequisite GPA" includes two semesters of introductory biology with labs, two semesters of introductory chemistry with labs, two semesters of introductory physics with labs, one semester of human or mammalian physiology with lab, and one semester of human or mammalian anatomy with lab. The physiology requirement and anatomy requirement can be fulfilled with a two-course sequence of anatomy and physiology (A&P) with labs. UDPT will utilize the highest grade earned in the prerequisite science GPA, if course was repeated for credit.
