To be considered a qualified applicant, your official GRE scores must be received at PTCAS (code 0465) no later than application deadline. GRE scores for all applicants within the same application cycle will be compared. We currently do not have minimum required GRE scores, but recommend verbal scores 153-160, quantitative scores 148-155, and 3.5-4.0 on the analytical writing portion of the GRE.
References are not a required part of our application process, but if an applicant wishes to include references, they may.
Observation hours are not required or considered for application. However, for personal preparation, 40 hours is recommended. We suggest viewing several settings, so you understand all the options in physical therapy, like acute care (hospital), rehabilitation (transitional or day rehabilitation), short- or long-term care (nursing homes or assisted living), pediatric clinics, outpatient clinics, wound care specialty care centers, or home health.
Cumulative GPA is calculated to include ALL academic coursework reported to PTCAS. All coursework is included in the calculation, including repeated courses. To be considered a qualified candidate, all official transcripts must be received at PTCAS by application deadline. In prerequisite calculations, the program uses the course satisfying each prerequisite which has the highest grade earned. If a prerequisite course is repeated, grades of all attempts will be utilized in the GPA calculation. All prerequisite courses must be completed for a grade of "C" or better. If prerequisite courses are completed between application (Oct) and matriculation (June) of the cohort, the grades will not be considered in GPA calculations of the current application cycle. A final grade of "C" or better is still required on these "in-progress" prerequisites per a final official transcript if applicant is accepted. Prerequisite courses that were taken more than 10 years prior to application will only be considered by petition to the DPT Admissions Committee.
