OU Graduate Application: Please note that applicants for the DPT program DO NOT need to complete an Oakland University Graduate Application to be considered for admission. There is NO supplemental application required.
Applicants planning to apply by August 15th and hoping to receive an early assurance decision should take the GRE before July 31, 2021.
Applicants applying after August 15th should take the GRE before September 25, 2021, so that the scores are received by the OU PT program prior to the October 15th decision deadline.
Program requires 2 letters of recommendation. A letter from a physical therapist is PREFERRED.
Observation of physical therapists in several different settings (e.g. hospital, outpatient, school, skilled nursing facility, or working with clients with different diagnoses (e.g. orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, or integumentary) is strongly recommended and is considered by the Admissions Committee. Documentation of hours by a physical therapist is not required and there is no minimum number of required observation hours.
An overall cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above as calculated by PTCAS is required for admission to the DPT program. Applicants must have received a grade of C or better in all required prerequisite courses with an overall average of a 3.0. Transcripts will be used to make the determination on the prerequisite course grades.
Math/science GPA as calculated by PTCAS is also considered in the admission process. Students will be considered for admission if they list a plan in the PTCAS application to complete their baccalaureate degree and all required prerequisite courses prior to the start of the program. To be fully accepted into the DPT program students must complete a baccalaureate degree and all required prerequisite courses prior to the start of fall courses in the first year.
