Program Description

The Youngstown State University Physical Therapy Program provides a comprehensive and cohesive educational environment for the preparation of physical therapists which emphasizes excellent clinical skills, professionalism and service. 

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is an 8-semester, full-time program with four years of pre-professional preparation. The faculty to student ratio allows for excellent student mentorship. The YSU program is one of the most affordable DPT education in the State of Ohio and Western Pennsylvania with state of the art facilities and strong community connections.

Program gives preference to applicants who are currently enrolled in or are previous graduates of Youngstown State University.

Youngstown State University significantly reduced the surcharge for out of state tuition, and for all students the cost is very affordable.  

Total cost of education is based on the 2021-22 tuition rates. Please keep in mind that these rates can change in future years. There could also be minor changes due to curriculum adjustments. The estimated total program cost includes tuition, laboratory/course fees, and transportation fees only and does not include other expenses such as books, supplies, required medical costs and living expenses.
