Program Description
The Department of Physical Therapy at Wingate University is dedicated to excellence in all aspects of the educational program. We are specifically committed to giving every student every opportunity to succeed in the program. It is our desire and mission to retain and graduate every student and allow them to become a productive physical therapist. We seek to produce physical therapists who are ready to immediately assume the health care practitioner role and who are highly respected in the PT community for their skill in clinical decision making and high level of professionalism.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Wingate University reflects the institution’s commitment to knowledge, faith and service; achieved through the preparation and development of physical therapists who possess a strong character and balanced perspective, prepared to assume the role of health care practitioner through the provision of evidence based practice, and through effective service to society in their civic, professional, spiritual, and social dimensions of life, delivered by faculty and staff committed to student success through excellence in teaching and learning practices.

Our cohorts of 44 students begin in January of each year and graduate in December, 35 months later.

If we could sum up our program in one statement, it would be the statement that hangs on the wall in every faculty member’s office that reads:

“We should all be able to say at the end of each day that we have done everything within our power to make every student successful. If we can’t honestly tell ourselves that, then we have failed our students and our mission.”
