Candidates with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply to our Flex DPT program. Earn your DPT degree while you work! Our hybrid learning model combines online classes with on-campus, weekend labs giving you the flexibility you need to become a physical therapist without re-locating.

Program Description

Earn your DPT degree while you work! Our blended learning model combines online classes with weekend labs giving you the flexibility you need to complete the program without re-locating or interrupting your career. Learn online, when and where you want, then meet your fellow students on campus during weekends to experience USAHS' clinical education from faculty that pioneered distance learning in the PT field.

  • Pass the NPTE: Our Flex DPT students who graduated in 2018-2019 had over a 90% pass rate average between three campuses (See specific breakdowns on Student Outcomes).
  • Proven Model: We have been successfully using this proven hybrid learning model since 2005.
  • Accreditation*: The Flex Doctor of Physical Therapy program modality at University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The University is accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Flexible: Our Flex DPT degree allows you to complete your degree online with weekend, on-campus labs.

  • No Relocation: Travel to one of three destination campuses (San Marcos, CA - St. Augustine, FL - Austin, TX) for bi-monthly, on-campus, weekend lab sessions.
  • Hands-On Experience: Three clinical experiences during the second half of the program deliver critical hands-on experience and patient management skills. These experiences require the student's full-time participation.
  • Same Degree: The Flex DPT curriculum is identical to our full-time, campus-based DPT program, but is delivered over 12 trimesters (4 years) instead of 8.
  • Program Length: Complete your degree in 12 trimesters (4 years) while you work.**

WHY USAHS?

  • Large PT School: The Flex DPT program offers students the opportunity to tap into USAHS' extensive network of DPT alumni and clinicians.
  • Start Soon: Start at the time of year that best suits your schedule. Our San Marcos and St. Augustine campuses offer starts in January and September. Our Austin campus offer starts in May and September.
  • Expert Faculty: Our faculty are experts in their field. Most are practicing clinicians so you can be assured your education will be relevant and applicable when you graduate.
  • Innovation: The University of St. Augustine is committed to continually disrupting physical therapy education with ground-breaking tools like the SafeGait 360 and our Simulation Laboratories.
  • Interprofessional Education: You'll have the opportunity to learn with students from other health care professions, such as occupational therapy.

Additional information about the class profile
When you log in to begin your application, pay attention to the modality (Flex or residential) and start date. You'll be selecting your campus choice under custom questions. We advise you to not fill out multiple applications. As USAHS is only one institution, applicants may only have ONE application total submitted for evaluation, regardless of program or modality. If you submit more than one, refunds will not be issued.

As we have limited seats available, we encourage applicants to apply early and not wait until the designated deadline date to submit. However, Admissions will continue to accept applications past the designated deadlines as long as there are spaces available within the cohort across all campuses.

*Please note* Your application is not sent to Admissions automatically or directly, so be prepared to schedule a review with the corresponding Enrollment Advisor for your primary campus of choice once your application becomes verified. Your designated advisor will review to make sure you have all requirements and give feedback for areas of improvement, if any. Our enrollment team cannot see or review your application until it is in a verified state. Please allow 6-8 weeks from the date of your verification for contact by an Enrollment Advisor.
