Program Description

The mission of the St. Ambrose University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is to prepare highly competent physical therapists who have the broad knowledge and skills required for contemporary physical therapist practice. Graduates of the program will be known for their compassionate care, professionalism, and commitment to lifelong learning.

The faculty members are dedicated to providing students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become integral members of the modern health care team. The DPT program is distinguished by a rich environment of academic excellence, a wide variety of clinical experiences, and a sense of community, respect, and friendship among students, faculty, and staff.

Courses in the curriculum are taught by physical therapists who are experts in areas such as orthopedics, sports medicine, cardiopulmonary, neuromuscular, pediatrics, geriatrics, and wound management. Basic and clinical sciences are supported by faculty members who have strong clinical and academic experience.

The program is a full time, day time program that spans 2 1/2 years. Each year, 36 students are selected through a competitive application process. See department website for more information about the program. www.sau.edu/pt
