***ONLY ACCEPTED APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS.*** Admitted applicants will be required to supply official copies of all college transcripts to the Shenandoah University Graduate Admissions Office and copies of their immunizatin records, after payment of security deposit and prior to matriculation. Instructions for submission of these supplemental documents are forwarded to admitted applicants in the Spring 2021 semester. Incoming students are not allowed to attend the required orientation and classes until all official transcripts have been received by the University. Furthermore, students are not allowed to participate in Clinical Education experiences without a complete immunization record and therefore would be unable to meet the requirements for completing the DPT program.
The program does not have minimum scores necessary for admission. However, higher GRE scores do improve an applicant's admission profile. GRE test scores can be no more than 3 years old to be acceptable for the current admissions cycle (latest date taken is September 30th, 2017).
The program requires two references, one from a Physical Therapist that has supervised the applicant and one from a professor. The program prefers that the professor reference come from a professor that has taught the applicant and is either a science professor or a professor within the applicant's major. References from Faculty Committees are acceptable for the academic professor reference.
The required observation hours (40hrs) must be completed at the time of application. The program recommends observation hours in multiple settings to include both out-patient and in-patient populations. Amassing observation or paid hours far and above the required minimum do not improve the applicant's admissions profile.
For repeated prerequisite courses, the Program uses the highest grade earned for the prerequisite GPA calculation. The program calculates prerequisite GPAs for applicants based on matching applicant coursework with the appropriate prerequisite. This calculation may differ from the applicant-entered data on PTCAS. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Admissions Coordinator with any questions related to the prerequisite GPAs calculated by the program.
