The mission of the physical therapy program at PCOM is to prepare individuals who demonstrate excellence in the practice of physical therapy, emphasize a "whole person" approach to patient management, commit to the advancement of knowledge and intellectual growth, and engage in the well-being of the community.

The DPT program equips students with the technical skills and knowledge needed to work in a variety of health care settings. Critical thinking and evidence-based practice are primary focuses of the program. Pairing these emphases with a variety of opportunities for clinical learning provides the experience necessary to practice care on the front lines of health. PCOM's collaborative environment, family atmosphere and academic support nurture student success. 

The program's location at the Georgia Campus in Suwanee is also home to osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, physician's assistant studies, medical laboratory science and biomedical sciences education programs. This provides the opportunity for interaction of the physical therapy students with other health care providers, fostering development of a collaborative approach to care that is required in today's health care arena. The osteopathic tradition complements the physical therapy program by further emphasizing a campus-wide focus on wellness-oriented, whole-person care at every stage of life.
 

The DPT program is designed to be completed in three years and includes both coursework and experiential learning in a variety of settings. As part of the 140 credit hours, students gain "real-world" experience through participation in 36 weeks of full-time clinical education. Students may also enhance their learning of physical therapy practice through participation in elective courses. 

The DPT program's emphasis on holistic admissions supports the vision of cultivating an inclusive learning environment that is diverse, inquisitive, dignified and respectful and that will inspire caring graduates who advocate for all individuals in our changing healthcare environment.  

Students in the DPT program at PCOM are encouraged to engage in community service, following the example of students in other programs on campus. 

Accepted applicants are asked to send a $1000 non-refundable deposit by February 15. This fee is non-refundable and will be credited to the students tuition account.
