Program Description

The mission statement of the New York Institute of Technology Physical Therapy Program, in keeping with the Mission of New York Tech and the Mission of the School of Health Professions, is as follows: To offer a Physical Therapy program that prepares skilled, knowledgeable, adaptable, culturally sensitive, technologically innovative clinicians, scientist and researchers. New York Tech's physical therapy 100 credit graduate program provides entry-level professional education. Embedded throughout the curriculum are 4 clinical education experiences totaling 36 weeks of full-time clinical education. The program is supported by 10 full-time doctorally-trained core faculty, with varying areas of specialty practice.

Our small class sizes of approximately 40 students allows for personalized attention and greater interaction with the faculty. The lead instructor in each course is a full-time New York Tech faculty member, with assistance from clinically-excellent adjuncts in the lab portions. Our most recently reported three-year ultimate pass rate is 100%, with an employment rate post-graduation of 100%. The physical therapy program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association. The program is located on New York Tech's beautifully wooded campus in Old Westbury, Long Island about 30 minutes from Manhattan. Please be aware that there are a few (<5) required Saturday class dates throughout the three years.
