The mission and primary enterprise of the Department is to educate thoughtful individuals who are competent, knowledgeable, and ethical professionals; dedicated to improving their community through provision of quality, evidence-based physical therapy services. Our graduates demonstrate a commitment to the professional organization and to the education of future physical therapists. Our graduates are scientific clinicians, skilled in critical thinking and capable of integrating theory with clinical practice. The physical therapy curriculum is a full-time 36 month, 122-semester hour plan of study with the foundational courses in the first year and clinical sciences in the second and third year. The didactic portion of the curriculum is delivered in multiple formats including formal lectures, clinical practical labs and small group case discussions. The clinical education experience is 38 weeks in length and is placed throughout the curriculum with the intent of providing the student the opportunity to practice and incorporate the information provided in the didactic portion of the curriculum.
