The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University is an entry-level professional degree to prepare students for entry into the profession of physical therapy. The program is 100 credit hours over 8 semesters and utilizes a hybrid curriculum design with components of a traditional and case-based curricular design. The coursework of the first year focuses on basic biomedical knowledge and principles of the profession of physical therapy. Year two coursework provides in depth knowledge of the clinical specialization of physical therapy in caring for patients in the four major practice patterns; musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and integumentary. The third year is mostly clinical education with 36 weeks of formal, clinical practice under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. DPT students are also given the opportunity to receive individualized, specialized knowledge through elective offerings and the mandatory completion of a scholarly project.
