If you retake your GRE,  we will apply your highest scores in each section. 

EWU requires three letters of recommendation, submitted through PTCAS, from the following individuals:
* Two licensed physical therapists
* One current or former employer/supervisor (if you were a college athlete you may use your coach as a reference; if you worked for a professor you may use the professor as a reference)

Please note:
* All three references can be from physical therapists if one is also indicated as a supervisor. 

* You cannot use one person as two references. For example, a physical therapist cannot also serve as a supervisor unless you have two other letters from physical therapists. 

* A professor can be a supervisor if you were a teaching assistant or a research assistant for the professor. 

* If you have used all of your available on-line references through PTCAS, and need an additional form to satisfy our requirement, please email dptadmissions@ewu.edu for a paper copy of the reference to send directly to EWU's program. PTCAS will NOT accept this paper copy.

Due to Covid observation hours are encouraged, but no longer required. 

EWU would like to see 75 hours of work/observation/volunteer experience under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. Observation hours must be verified in writing by the supervising physical therapist by October 1 of the year you are applying.

EWU would like observation in at least 2 different practice settings (e.g., hospitals, outpatient orthopedic clinics, rehabilitation centers, pediatric centers, residential facilities, nursing homes, schools), with more than 30 hours in at least one of the settings.

* Overall cumulative GPA is considered, as well as the prerequisite GPA.

* Grades within repeated courses are averaged when calculating GPA.
