Program Description

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Clarkson University is a 101 credit, full-time, post baccalaureate curriculum that takes 2 and 2/3 years to complete.  The program uses a problem based learning curricular model (PBL), which uniquely prepares you to become a lifelong learner and expert clinician using an integrated case based approach to learning.  You will participate in 4 full-time clinical experiences in addition to hands on clinical experiences interwoven throughout the didactic portion of the curriculum.  Clinical experiences include sites in northern New York, Pennsylvania, and New England, as well as locations in larger cities throughout the country.

The Department of Physical Therapy has state of the art technologies for clinical practice and research. Faculty in the department bring decades of clinical experience and scholarly vision to the classroom. Since classes are small and utilize PBL, you will work closely with faculty members, promoting professional growth and success.  Clarkson is located in a rural area of upstate New York, in a medically under-served area. Our rural location offers many exciting outdoor recreation opportunities for students.  We are also only an hour and a half away from the beautiful city of Ottawa, ON (Capitol of Canada) and you can easily get to Burlington VT, Syracuse, NY, Lake Placid NY, and Montreal, QC for a day trip if you are looking to get away for a bit.
