Program Description

Thank you for your interest in the Chapman University Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. At Chapman University, the faculty embody the mission of the University and of the Department for providing a personalized education of distinction with an evidence-based approach. In addition, the faculty believe in, and prepare students for, current standards of PT practice as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

There are 17 full time faculty and over 60 part time faculty; all supported by clinicians in over 400 contracted sites who assist in the overall education of the students. Chapman provides a challenging and rewarding curriculum and we continually strive to improve and respond to feedback. The physical therapy program accepts up to 40 students in the summer from many qualified applicants.

The program requires 3 years of continuous enrollment and consists of 126 units of didactic and clinical instruction with up to 40 weeks of off-site clinical experiences integrated throughout the program. The integrated program is designed to produce top-level clinicians. Chapman boasts a 100% licensure pass-rate and employment rate for graduates of our DPT program.

While the program is demanding, the students in the Chapman University DPT program still find time for fun. We encourage our students to maintain a balance in life and provide opportunities for such activities as parties, marathons or 5K runs. Each class moves through the program together throughout the curriculum and this provides opportunities to develop and nurture lasting relationships. The DPT program at Chapman University is an excellent choice for students seeking a personalized education.

With many institutions moving to Pass/Credit and Online instruction due to the pandemic, we will accept Pass/Credit coursework and online coursework taken between March 2020 and June 2022. Courses taken outside this time frame must be taken in person and include a letter grade to meet the program expectations.

We welcome you to visit our state-of-the-art facilities, at the Harry & Diane Rinker Health Science Graduate Campus in Irvine, California.  Please refer to the CU Safely back protocols when planning a visit.

We are available via email at dptadmit@chapman.edu and invite you to reach out with your questions.
