Thank you for your interest in the Chapman University Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. At Chapman University, the faculty embody the mission of the University and of the Department for providing a personalized education of distinction with an evidence based approach. In addition, the faculty believe in, and prepare students for, current standards of PT practice as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
There are 19 full time faculty and over 60 part time faculty; all supported by clinicians in over 300 contracted sites who assist in the overall education of the students. Chapman provides a challenging and rewarding curriculum and we continually strive to improve and respond to feedback. The physical therapy program accepts up to 40 students in the summer from a large number of qualified applicants.
The program requires 3 years of continuous enrollment and consists of 129 units of didactic and clinical instruction with up to 40 weeks of off-site clinical experiences integrated throughout the program. The integrated program is designed to produce top-level clinicians. Chapman boasts a 100% licensure pass-rate for graduates of our DPT program. In addition, our graduates enjoy a 100% employment rate.
While the program is demanding, the students in the Chapman University DPT program still find time for fun. We encourage our students to maintain a balance in life and provide opportunities for such activities as parties, marathons or 5K runs. Each class moves through the program together throughout the curriculum and this provides opportunities to develop and nurture lasting relationships. The DPT program at Chapman University is an excellent choice for students seeking a personalized education.
With a majority of institutions moving to Pass/Credit and Online instruction, we will accept Pass/Credit coursework as well as online coursework during the 2020 year. Courses taken prior to 2020 must be taken in person and include a letter grade to meet the program expectations.
We welcome you to come visit our state of the art facilities, at the Harry & Diane Rinker Health Science Graduate Campus in Irvine, CA. We are available via email at firstname.lastname@example.org and invite you to reach out with your questions.
A non-refundable deposit is required to hold your position in the class and is applied to your first semester's tuition. The due date for this deposit will be dependent on receiving an offer of admission.
Fall classes begin on August 30, 2021. Orientation will be held over the course of two days and is mandatory. During the recent application cycle, orientation was held the week prior to start of classes.
No more than two science prerequisite courses and one human behavior or statistics prerequisite course (a total of three prerequisite courses) may be incomplete when the candidate submits their application. Preference may be given to applicants with the fewest pending admission requirements.
Persons who have been dismissed from another physical therapy program are not eligible for consideration for admission to Chapman University.
Chapman University considers all applicants without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, special needs, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by applicable state or federal civil rights laws. Applicants who decline or are denied admission may reapply in any subsequent year. Admission requirements are subject to change, and admission in one year does not guarantee admission in any subsequent year.
