English proficiency is required for admission into Graceland's Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. One of the ways to prove English proficiency is to have an equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree or higher from an international institution that is officially recognized by that country, and the country is on the Graceland University English Speaking Country and Territory List. This list of countries can be found here.

Graceland DPT employs a holistic approach to admissions and recruitment. GRE is NOT currently an admission requirement to Graceland DPT to support our commitment to reducing barriers to physical therapy education. Diversity, inclusion, and belonging are some of the critical priorities in our program in addition to ensuring that every student receives academic and other support they need to be successful.

All applicants are reviewed on a combination of academic and holistic factors including unique life experiences, volunteer and extracurricular experiences, letters of recommendation, essay responses, and online (virtual) interview. A copy of the application review rubric is provided to guide applicants through the Graceland DPT admissions process.

Per CAPTE: "This program has begun the process toward accreditation by submitting an Application for Candidacy. A review of the Application for Candidacy is scheduled and a determination on candidacy is anticipated prior to their stated matriculation date. Submission of an Application for Candidacy does not assure that the program will be granted Candidate for Accreditation status. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status is required prior to implementation of the professional phase of the program; therefore, no students may be enrolled in professional courses until Candidate for Accreditation status has been achieved."

Should the program not obtain Candidate for Accreditation status and not be eligible to admit students, applicants to the program will not be refunded the PTCAS application fee paid to apply to the program.

Program Description

The Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Graceland University will provide students with an innovative and collaborative learning community that will produce qualified entry-level practitioners that are movement system experts.  The degree requirements consist of a core set of courses in foundational and clinical sciences, evidence-based practice, and specialty areas (i.e., geriatrics, pediatrics, etc.).  Students will also complete physical therapy clinical practice hours within the field under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.

The two-year, accelerated, hybrid curriculum consists of 112 semester hours delivered in 6 trimesters.  The hybrid format of instruction is provided through distance education and face-to-face onsite lab immersion sessions that allow students to live anywhere in the country.  The program is designed to be in full compliance with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapist Education (CAPTE).

All lab immersions are held at a rented facility in the Kansas City area.
